After a year of unprecedented events, it’s time for another one.

Google rolled out a broad core algorithm update on June 2nd ... and has now revealed that we can expect another one in July.

This is the first time that Google has ever released two broad core algorithm updates in consecutive months.

Our SEO team always ensure that our clients’ sites are in the best possible position - and it was no different on June 2nd - but as broad core updates usually involve substantial changes that affect ranking factors, we’re keeping an especially close eye on things.

What is the impact of the Broad Core updates?

Google itself has assured us that any changes are unlikely to be felt significantly, however.

Google Scholar Danny Sullivan stated on Twitter: “Some of our planned improvements for the June 2021 update aren’t quite ready, so we’re moving ahead with the parts that are, then we will follow with the rest with the July 2021 update.

“Most sites won’t notice either of these updates, as is typical with any core updates.”

It’s important not to panic and make rash changes if your site is negatively impacted, and also wise not to pop the champagne if the update has a positive effect, as Google is famous for dialling back any massive changes.

What's next?

On top of the unusual double updates, there's also a page experience revamp that will be rolling out mid-June ... what a couple of months!

There's no need to worry - our SEO experts can help ensure your site is well optimised and help to mitigate the risk of these updates impacting your rankings.
