It was a great pleasure to be invited to the annual Business of the Year awards held at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top.
Eaton Smith have been hosting the event for the last 16 years. Each month in the Business of the Month awards 6 businesses are shortlisted and a winner is selected by the expert judging panel and the award is presented at the offices of the Huddersfield based law firm. Each year 3 of the 12 monthly winners are specially commended at the Business of the Year ceremony, awarded as 2nd runner up, runner up and winner.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Kirklees and more than 250 business representatives, the opportunity to network was excellent.
This years winners were, as 2nd runner up, Castleford based Cheese Mongers Cryer & Stott Limited, the runner up was Huddersfield based Alexandra House Spa and the winner was North Fire Limited, based in Holmfirth.
The new Eaton Smith website, designed and developed by Ascensor, got a special mention by Senior Partner Andrew Sugden, after the winners were announced.
The monthly events and annual awards ceremony are supported by the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and Business Link and gives businesses based in Kirklees, Wakefield and Calderdale the opportunity to enter.
The Yorkshire business community continues to thrive in the face of tough economic times and the awards were just another example of how resilient our region is.
