Paul Costelloe Man

The Paul Costelloe brand was launched in 1979 and is now one of the most established names in British fashion and is still run by Paul himself. In 2007 Leeds based tailors Berwin & Berwin (founded in 1885) secured the license to manufacture and distribute the Paul Costelloe range.

We were honoured that Berwin & Berwin chose Ascensor as their digital partner after meeting with several prospective agencies. The brief for the first project, for the Paul Costelloe brand was that an existing Ecommerce framework was to be used.

What was involved?

The chosen framework was Magento, firmly established as the number one community led platform and capable of being heavily customised by experienced PHP developers. The requirements of the project meant that significant customisation of the platform was required to achieve the desired results.

With work of this nature it is easy to lose the benefit of working with an established code-base and with so many plug-ins used and developed, code can become unstable. The testing involved in this project was significant to ensure that our client would receive the desired compatibility, functionality and stability.

What features did we include?

The fully device responsive website includes a complex product page that allows bundle products such as suits to have all component parts displayed and available for purchase, complete with attributes. Products can be selected by category and by occasion and filtered using the push menu.

The site includes a store locator that when logged in a user is presented with their ‘local’ store and can browse specific store information and news. The website synchronises with the in-house ERP system to enable a true stock status to be available on the website, thanks to continuous stock level site updates and web sales outputs.

The website features comprehensive promotions management across multiple variables, enabling complex discounts packages to provide a fully flexible product offering. All of this is linked through a comprehensive client area to provide account holder offers and wish lists. We have also integrated multiple third party management tools including Mailchimp, Mouseflow and Optimizely as well as a full suite of management reports to ensure our client can stay on top of the site’s activity.

Next Steps:

We are integrating the website with various shopping portals including Google, Amazon and eBay to continue to build sales.

We have also been commissioned to develop a new corporate website for Berwin & Berwin that will present basic information on each of the brands that the tailor carries. This website is being built using the Wordpress framework and is fully device responsive. We are looking forward to supporting Berwin & Berwin with the planned development of websites for their other brands to bring them in-line with customer’s online expectations as well as supporting their team with digital marketing services.

What Paul Costelloe Man said

We were looking for a more modern look for our brand and a website which reflected the functionality users expect. Ascensor provided a solution which ticked all the boxes. It worked with our existing systems, was fully optimised for a range of mobile devices and was built using a well known and common framework giving us greater flexibility in managing the site and making its on-going evolution much easier.
