Don’t Make Me Think

Don’t Make Me Think!: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability is a book by Steve Krug that every website owner should read!

The book first published in 2000, with a second edition in 2005, is possibly one of the most important books a web design agency should have on its shelf.

The reason this book is so important is it considers websites from the user perspective, it is jargon free and is entertaining throughout.

The book is full of insights into what makes a good web page and most importantly what makes a bad one – in a nutshell, why some websites work and others don’t

Visitors to your website are now so used to using the internet as their primary engagement with business, that if you don’t get the basics right, they will leave and may never return. Various features relating to ‘search’, ‘basket’ and navigation are explained in a simple to understand way and gives readers a great tool for reviewing their own website to see what has been done right, and what can be improved.

There are tools and techniques that can be used by Web Designers to help improve practice, to help engage more visitors and have positive call to actions.

Don’t Make Me Think is an excellent book for web designers and website owners alike, highly recommended.
