How good a Social Listener are you?

Social Media now has a reported 1 billion daily users, that’s a lot of people, and most of them are talking. How much time do you spend talking, and how much of it is listening? If everyone is talking and no-one is listening, how important is what you’ve got to say?

We gravitate towards people who listen to us in our daily lives, and move away from the people that don’t, social media is no different. On a B2B level, if people don’t listen to you, you stop listening and speaking to them. One of the barriers people face when starting social media is the fear of not being listened to.

Putting your business firmly on the Map

google places Putting your business firmly on the MapAre you using Google Places properly? At the very least you should have a Google Maps listing, but if you listed yourself, then the chances are you could be missing a golden opportunity.

Google Places is the indented listing of businesses that appears when you use a local / geographically specific search and is linked to Google Maps, with the map appearing to the right of the screen.

Having an optimised Google Places listing is vital if you benefit from local trade. With over a third of all internet searches in the UK now including a geographic keyword (driven by the use of mobile internet), doing…

Are you Feeding enough?

shopping feeds Are you Feeding enough?I am of course talking about product feeds onto third party websites such as Google Shopping, eBay and Shopzilla.

If you own an E-commerce website and you are not currently sending data feeds into Google Shopping then you are certainly missing a trick, mainly because it’s free. Google Shopping (or Google Base as it is sometimes referred) is a simple way to drive extra traffic to your products, and if optimised correctly you can often have instant first page visibility for competitive product names and terms. Google Shopping is a no brainer for retail website owners and the feed is very simple to create and simple to manage, updating the index weekly…

Social Media: Speak for yourself!

tweeter small Social Media: Speak for yourself! In the last few years it seems like every man and his dog have become social media experts. No doubt there are some very good social media professionals about, but would you trust someone else to do your talking for you?

Many businesses shy away from social media because they just don’t know what to say or how to say it. The other option is to pay someone to do it for you – but how can this work? Surely if someone is going to do it for you then they will need to continuously ask you what you want to say, then provide you with content for approval, go back and…

E-commerce vs Physical Retail

We’re often asked if E-commerce will ever replace physical retail completely. Even though the high street seems to be shrinking, new shopping centres are continually springing up, there is clearly still a big demand for ‘touch and buy’ shopping. Large retail businesses do still have a major physical presence and many are expanding, just not necessarily on the high street.

Most retail businesses do have an E-commerce presence, and we would suggest that E-commerce provides added convenience to their clientele. Take clothing for example, who would have thought that clothes would ever be bought online – surely you have to touch and try…

‘Making E-commerce Pay’ seminar

e commerce pay Making E commerce Pay seminarMaking E-commerce Pay is a discussion about some of the things businesses should be doing to make more money from online retail.

The Great British Business Show at Earls Court, November 17th and 18th 2011 was the first large exhibition that Ascensor has displayed at. All of the team worked tirelessly over both days and the interest was excellent. The follow-up is key and over the next few days each lead will be contacted to establish requirements. We had two seminars, ‘Making E-commerce Pay’ which were very well…
